Parts Manager supports the parts department with technical, procedural, inventory control, and parts exchange support. Manages material and parts in accordance with production schedules and commitments. Being a Parts Manager monitors and troubleshoots all backorders and communicates and provides technical assistance to parts sales, customers, and branches. Monitors the parts inventory database and places orders as needed. Additionally, Parts Manager reviews progress reports on schedule status, parts usage, and inventory and makes necessary adjustments. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Parts Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Parts Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. The Parts Manager oversees the Parts Department and is responsible for the profitable operations of the department within the dealership. Maintains a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department, body shop, wholesale accounts, and the do-it-yourself public. Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of parts department staff. Establishes pricing parameters in each customer category that generate sufficient gross profit, produce a satisfactory profit while maintaining customer loyalty.
Responsible for conducting physical inventory and reconciliation
Creates goals and new objectives, including managing the budget and a marketing plan promoting new and repeat business
Keeps up to date on manufacturer policies and recommended procedures while acting as liaison with factory representatives
Maintains a high standard of customer service by addressing customer complaints immediately and within established dealership policies
Ensures that the same high-quality level of service provided to outside customers is also provided to internal dealership customers.
Works with the service manager and sales manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
Analyzes departmental operations and storage layout and revisions as needed for maximum effectiveness.
Maintain dealership quality standards Analyzes sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals.
Enforces safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation, processing of MSDS sheets on all products carried, and OSHA Right-to-Know.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements
Minimum of one year of supervisory experience
Dealership Parts/Service work experience
Preferred GM Experience
Understanding of dealership software platforms
Experience in the automotive parts department
Excellent communication and managerial skills
