    Job Description :

A high value is finding the RIGHT person who wants to grow with the church. This job description is negotiable with a person’s skills and gifts.

A heart for ministry in the local church is key!

We are seeking a teammate who will be a part of an overall strategy of addressing engagement. The Associate Pastor focusing on engagement can play a critical role in our mission : helping people move from discovering and connecting to Jesus to following Him fully alongside of others.

They will help lead leaders and build teams and systems to guide those new to Mill Creek to become fully engaged in the life and mission of the church.

From their first experience of the church through to connecting in meaningful relationships in a group and serving teams, the AP’s goal is to make the process clear, seamless and life giving.

The right candidate will want to grow and expand their leadership skills and gifts and a deep desire to see people grow in their faith and action.

    OUR IDEA OF ENGAGEMENT :

Jesus never called us to attend him, he called us to follow him. Following Jesus is being engaged with him. Listening. Growing.

    Learning. Changing. Being.

The attractional model of church growth is a dying strategy as church attendance, even among Christians, dwindles to historic lows.

Thinking we must get people to attend Mill Creek in order to get them engaged won’t work moving forward. We are working towards a new strategy.

For example, many churches  may license a deacon for hospital visitations, but they are not necessarily granted opportunities to preach within their assembly because they are considered to be a “lay minister.”  In such instances, a person often has been given the title of a deacon (which American culture has come to embrace as permission for religious visitations).
