We are looking for a Pastry Assistant to prepare different types of pastries, like cookies, loaves and desserts. Pastry Assistant responsibilities include mixing dough, preparing fillings and creating pastries. To be successful in this role, you should have work experience as a Pastry Assistant. You may also assist our Executive Chef in prepping salads and some catering (as needed). Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis and up to the Zekraft standards.

Responsibilities:

• Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use and after use
• Time Management
• Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
• Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (e.g. chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits)
• Prepare snacks and pastries, while using proper use of kitchen equipment and ovens
• Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, cookies and sweet rolls
• Prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences (e.g. birthday cakes)
• Help expand pastry menu to include traditional pastries such as danishes
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and work well with team
• Familiarity with a vast array of pastry techniques
• Pastry experience preferred
• OPEN availability on weekends
• Approx. 28-32 hours per week

Skills

• Experience as a Bakery Assistant, Pastry Chef Assistant or similar role
• Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
• Understanding of food safety practices (Serv Safe)
• Experience with cake decoration techniques
• Excellent time-management skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
• Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
• Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
• Certification from a culinary school is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 38 per week
