Assistant Director of Alumni Relations

  • SUMMARY
    The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations oversees and manages many aspects of the day-to-day operations and long-term vision of the alumni office. This includes, but is not limited to, student engagement, alumni communication and events, and volunteer coordination.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Serve as the front line of communication with alumni through phone, email, written correspondence, social media, and face-to-face interactions
    • Cast vision, lead and manage aspects of the alumni office as it relates to alumni engagement, donor relationships, and student initiatives
    • Coordinate and execute all alumni and student events
    • Provide vision and manage the marketing and communication for the alumni office through email, website, social media in conjunction with the office of marketing and communications
    • Oversee volunteer groups, such as a parent advisory group, campaign volunteers, alumni board, as well as other committees or groups as necessary
    • Develop and maintain a policies and procedures manual for volunteer coordination
    ADDITIONAL DUTIES
    • Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Alumni Relations as needed
    • Serve at the welcome desk when available, welcoming and assisting students, alumni, donors and friends of the university
    • Additional tasks assigned by appropriate personnel, as needed

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
    Increase alumni engagement of their time, talent and treasure through volunteerism and general marketing and communication.

    REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
    Serves as a member of the advancement team, reporting directly to the Director of Alumni Relations

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Supervises and oversees student workers and volunteers to meet the needs of the department. Will provide leadership to key boards, advisory groups and committees. Will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Must be able to work effectively with volunteers.
    • Must possess excellent ability to organize, communicate and implement multiple tasks, meet multiple deadlines.
    • Must be effective in both written and verbal forms of communication.
    • Evenings, weekends and travel expected.
    • Individual will exhibit a life and service that is in full accord with the Spring Arbor University Concept and Community Covenant.

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably from Spring Arbor University
    • Two years of higher education experience and/or past affiliation with SAU, highly preferred
    • Evidence of planning and executing successful events
    Experience working in multicultural academic environments preferred and individuals from diverse populations are encouraged to apply.
