Thesis Processor in
Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Format and edit academic or professional publications using advanced features of MS Word.
- Teach editing, formatting, grammar, punctuation, citation styles, and proper attribution practices.
- Collaborate with team members to reach mutual goals.
- Produce original creative work involving editing and writing, such as newspaper and magazine articles, undergraduate theses, edited volumes, and academic journals.
- Create PowerPoint presentations, educational materials, or webpages that meet professional standards.
- Develop data-management systems for tracking projects, including writing SOPs.
- Utilize originality-check software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, rhetoric, international or public policy, or writing-intensive field from an accredited university.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree GPA of 3.25.
- At least three years of experience formatting and editing academic or professional publications using advanced features of MS Word.
- Experience in teaching editing, formatting, grammar, punctuation, citation styles, and proper attribution practices.
- Evidence of strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Production of original creative work involving editing and writing.
- Experience in creating PowerPoint presentations, educational materials, or webpages.
- Experience in developing data-management systems for tracking projects.
- Proficiency in using originality-check software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recognition or awards for published work.
- Knowledge of English-language, academic-writing fundamentals, including organization, structure, grammar, writing conventions and styles, punctuation, word choice, parallelism, paraphrasing, signal phrasing, quoting, and citing.
- Knowledge of formatting documents to academic publication standards.
- Understanding of diverse academic norms, such as multiple citation styles and methods for avoiding plagiarism.
- Familiarity with high academic standards, such as the importance of academic honor codes.
- Exceptional computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and file sharing.
