Payroll Clerk prepares and processes payroll and associated information. Collates and verifies data and inputs into the payroll system. Being a Payroll Clerk updates payroll records and processes routine changes to employee records. Performs basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle. Additionally, Payroll Clerk responds to pay-related inquiries from staff. Researches and resolves errors or omissions. May prepare and submit reports and forms required by IRS or other regulatory bodies. Follows all processing procedures, adheres to policies, and maintains confidentiality. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Payroll Clerk works under moderate supervision. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
o Experience in K-12 education or HR (preferred)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Assists the Director with managing the functions of personnel services including hiring, transfers, separations, onboarding, compensation, background checks, record management, etc. (I9, Background checks, and others)
o Verification of Employment
o Maintain employees' benefits info updated on the system
o Help payroll (Follow up time sheets, leave forms, sick/personal days)
o Experience with efinance-this is preferred
o Provide support to employees
o Register/Attend Job fairs, keep resumes updated
o Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external
to the district.
o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software,
calculator, copy machine and telephone.
o Ability to analyze data
o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills
