Payroll Director directs all aspects of payroll processing operations. Establishes and oversees payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements. REPORTS TO: Chief of People and Culture Officer
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Payroll staff as assigned.
POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit professional position with benefits.
SALARY: Hiring salary $77,000 - $85,000, commensurate with education and experience
STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Assistant Director, Payroll performs a variety of payroll processing duties for approximately 900 employees. The Assistant Director, Payroll is responsible for, but not limited to, ensuring accuracy of payments, tracking employee payroll expenditures for all state appropriations and maintaining the Labor Cost Management (LCM) system to ensure all payroll expenses have been posted to the correct accounts. They process and interpret payroll tax information and other pertinent payroll deductions, as well as update and maintain payroll policies, procedures, internal controls, workflows and flowcharts. Additionally, the Assistant Director, Payroll supervises payroll staff as assigned.
