3 Step Sports is looking for a Payroll Specialist to actively support the Accounting Department and the organization as we continue to grow.
This role can be remote, with the requirement of visiting the Greater Boston office from time to time.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain employee records in the payroll and ERP systems.
- Approve and post weekly staff time sheets.
- Maintain payroll deductions, deferrals, and withholdings for all employees.
- Perform benefits administration to include vendor change reporting, reviewing invoices for payment, and assisting employees with benefit enrollment, annual renewals, and termination Cobra forms.
- Process and post semi-monthly payroll
- Maintain payroll reporting records.
- Manage year-end employee W-2 and employer ACA reporting.
- Prepare monthly staff time analysis reports.
- Process needed G/L journal entries related to payroll and benefits.
- Reconcile G/L accounts on a monthly basis related to assigned payroll and benefit accounts.
- Analyze, audit, reconcile, and resolve complex payroll processing and employee payroll issues to ensure smooth payroll processing!
- Ensure payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, and all tax authority regulations.
- Research and interpret federal and state regulatory requirements and resolve tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing.
- Respond to year end external financial audit and any regulatory inquiries.
- May work with system programmers to achieve solutions or administer company payroll system with outside service provider.
- Other assigned duties as requested.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience managing payroll or accounting in a multi-state and multi-entity environment.
- Experience with accounting ERP system (Oracle NetSuite preferred)
- Experience in handling sensitive/confidential information
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent
- Acute attention to detail and a dedication to providing high quality work products.
- Proficient in financial accounting, with strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices and procedures
- Ability to quickly assess issues and relevant information to make effective decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Proven ability to work with minimal direction, as well as be resourceful and independent in solving problems
- Willingness to work hard with a positive attitude.
