    Operating Engineers 324 Pension Fund, the union of heavy equipment operators, heavy equipment technicians and stationary engineers in Michigan, is hiring a Pension Coordinator in its Bloomfield Township headquarters. Operating Engineers 324 is a local of the International Union of operating Engineers (IUOE), a national union affiliated with the AFL-CIO. Operating Engineers 324 represents over 14,000 members. The Pension Coordinator position is responsible for calculating retirement benefit estimates, processes applications, communicates with members, reports to Board of Trustees, balances monthly ledgers, and processes pension and defined contribution checks, and performs customer service functions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Answer member inquiries and requests via incoming phone calls,
    • Determine eligibility and calculate monthly benefits of participants based upon a thorough understanding of complex Plan provisions,
    • Approve or deny DB & DC applications based upon Plan provisions and application information; process the approval/denial letters,
    • Processing Member's DC Loan payments
    • Sending out month end DC Loan delinquency letters
    • Sending out Retiree Waivers and tracking them
    • Reciprocity setting up T/A's to Transfer Out
    • Handling Subpoena Requests for DB & DC
    • Prepare meeting reports for the Board of Trustees
    • Preparing Appeals for DB & DC
    • Balance monthly ledgers, including YTD figures, process monthly and manual checks,
    • Going through the last pension check report to make the necessary changes and mail out the corresponding letters,
    • Review the working retiree report on a monthly basis, and performing recalculations of member benefits where necessary,
    • Review monthly and yearly exception reports, including 1099R processing in January, Plan Year End processing for both DB & DC, and reviewing annual benefit statements,
    • Route divorce decrees and QDRO's to the Fund Legal Counsel; process QDRO's as required
    • Pulling audits for Plante Moran

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Education and Experience:

    • At least three years’ administrative experience
    • Some post-secondary education preferred
    • Prior experience in a labor organization, Pension, or legal setting preferred
