A Perfusionist, also known as a perfusiologist or clinical perfusion scientist, is a healthcare professional who operates the cardiopulmonary bypass machine (heart–lung machine) during cardiac surgery and other surgeries that require cardiopulmonary bypass to manage the patient's physiological status. Position Summary: Assess, plan and implement the patient care requirements and treatment necessary for cardiopulmonary bypass/ assistance before, during or after surgery. Operate the heart and lung machine to support the patient.
Experience: 3 to 5 years minimum perfusion experience required.
Education: Completion of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion training program required. B.S. degree in perfusion technology preferred.
License and Credentials: Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion., NJ perfusion license and BLS certification required.
Skills: Communicates with other departments, furnishing or obtaining information or reports, requiring tact and discretion order to obtain cooperation. Rapid technical changes in the field required reading, site visits and seminar attendance to attain CE points required for re-certification.

Work Schedule: Per Diem
Bachelor of Science or better in Perfusion.
