  • Overview:
    We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a GIT “Geologist in Training-Level on a full-time basis. This position offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in the field of geology. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in geosciences, a passion for the natural world, and a desire to contribute to meaningful geological projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Fieldwork: Participate in field investigations, geological surveys, and sample collection activities under the guidance of senior geologists. This may include conducting geological mapping, soil sampling, rock coring, and groundwater monitoring.

    Laboratory Analysis: Assist in laboratory analysis of geological samples, including soil, rock, and water samples. Perform tests and experiments to analyze physical and chemical properties, as well as mineral composition.

    Data Collection and Interpretation: Collect, organize, and analyze geological data using various methods and tools. Assist in the interpretation of geological data to identify geological features, formations, and potential resources.

    Report Writing: Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations summarizing geological findings, observations, and conclusions. Clearly communicate results to project teams and stakeholders.

    GIS and Mapping: Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to create maps, interpret spatial data, and visualize geological features. Assist in the development of geological maps and models.

    Environmental Assessment: Contribute to environmental impact assessments and site investigations by conducting geological evaluations and identifying potential risks or hazards.

    Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental standards in all geological activities. Assist in obtaining permits and approvals as needed.

    Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures during fieldwork and laboratory activities. Promote a culture of safety awareness and risk mitigation.

    Team Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and project managers, to achieve project objectives and deliver high-quality results.

    Professional Development: Stay updated on advances in the field of geology through continued learning, professional development opportunities, and participation in relevant conferences and workshops.

    Other Duties as Assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Sciences, Earth Sciences, or related field.

    Strong academic background in geosciences, including coursework in geology, mineralogy, petrology, and hydrogeology.

    Professional License is not required, but preferred. Ability to obtain professional registration in California (e.g., GE, CGE, GIT) a plus.

    Loss Prevention System or similar behavior-based loss prevention system experience and expertise.

    Experience with municipal and regional government clients preferred.

    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Proficiency in fieldwork techniques, including geological mapping and sample collection.

    Familiarity with laboratory equipment and techniques for geological analysis.

    Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.

    Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
