Pharmacy Technician Supervisor oversees the work of a team of Pharmacy Technicians that assist Pharmacists with the dispensing of medical prescriptions. Monitors daily activities and manages work schedules to ensure that quality, production and customer service standards are maintained. Being a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may hire, train, and evaluate new employees. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Job Duties:
· Prepare medication for patients
· Receiving and verifying prescriptions
· Process prescriptions using computer software
· Helping health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
· Maintaining pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.
· Maintaining a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Organizing medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, and calculating quantities.
· Maintaining records by recording and filing physicians’ orders and prescriptions.
