Physician Assistant - Specialty jobs in Indiana
Physician Assistant - Specialty assesses, plans, and provides patient care in a medical specialty, such as cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, etc. under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Specialty orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Specialty requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Typically reports to a physician. Overview
Serves as a physician assistant that provides care in collaboration with physicians and other members of the health care team to a specific patient population in the outpatient and/or clinical setting. Maintains an advanced knowledge base and skills in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, physical and psychosocial assessment, and management of health and illness in the health care of individuals.
• Requires certification as a Physician Assistant in the State of Indiana.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Requires current national certification in area of clinical specialty. New graduates will have one year from date of graduation to obtain certification.
• Board certification is required for this position. New graduates will have 3 months from the time of graduation to obtain board certification. Requires clinical expertise as applicable to individual area.
• Knowledge of the service standards and regulatory standards governing care delivery and operations.
