POSITION PURPOSE

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources Department and Payroll Administration. The primary responsibilities include hiring and interviewing staff, payroll administration, benefits and leave administration, coordinating annual performance review process and enforcing company policies and practices. This position will work directly with the owners of the practice to develop and direct the HR agenda to support the organizational goals.

HUMAN RESOURCES RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management
• Maintain human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database

• Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for all open positions

• Conducts all on-boarding of new hires including background checks and employment eligibility verification; runs new hire orientation

• Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers
• Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
• Assist with the preparation of the performance review process; send employees self-assessments two months in advance; maintain review calendar and send reminders to managers and owners;
• Assist with processing of terminations and conducts exit interviews

• Function as a resource for employees with grievances when they feel they are not being heard by their managers and/or supervisors
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and procedures to maintain compliance

• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
• Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as necessary

• Performs other duties as assigned

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

· Administer paychecks, deduction summaries and earnings statements for employee population across different departments on a biweekly schedule

· Maintain and use company’s payroll and time and attendance system to capture recorded hours, wage amounts and other data about each employee

· Evaluate the accuracy of timesheets submitted by each company department every week and contact supervisors or individual employees when there is a discrepancy

· Analyze reports for frequent employee tardiness, absences, and last minute call outs; responsible for documentation, written warnings, and corrective action meetings with employees and their managers.

· Create new data files for new employees and submit hiring paperwork into the system to set up a payroll account

· Enter information into the payroll system about employee taxes, exemptions, transfers, firings and resignations as details change

· Respond to any errors in payroll by reviewing past records and making any wage corrections or adjustments when necessary

· Track employee absences through the payroll software and record details about personal days, sick leave, jury duty and extended leaves of absence

· Answer employee questions about payroll, leave amounts, tax forms and other compensation issues when asked

COMPUTER SKILLS

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Proficient with Paychex payroll and time & attendance system

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
• 5 years of progressive experience working in a fast-paced Human Resources department; or any appropriate combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years of experience running payroll; understanding payroll and employment taxes
• Previous experience with HRIS software, payroll, and labor reporting systems
• Strong knowledge of Federal and local labor laws and other applicable state laws
• Strong knowledge of compliance in labor and payroll laws
• Strong employee relations experience
