Job Description:

Seeking a full-time medical assistant for a busy Podiatry office. The candidate needs good communication and organizational skills.

Essential Job Functions:

• Escort patients to the exam room.
• Update eCW with weight, medicine reconciliation, family history, social history, allergies etc.
• Review medical records prior to the visit and verify medical data as necessary.
• Help patient take off or put on their socks and shoes as needed.
• Prepare bio hazardous waste/soiled linen for processing.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patients, keeping room neat, clean and stocked.
• Assist providers in examination and treatment/procedures of patients as needed.
• Assist providers in bandaging feet after procedures.
• Sanitize exam rooms between patients and at the end of the day per protocol.
• Prepare prior authorizations for medications and follow up to completion.
• Follow up on orders to completion such as wound supplies for patients.
• Perform general office duties, such as returning phone calls, or completion of insurance forms.
• Measuring and ordering diabetic shoes and inserts for patients, night splints, Cam walker etc.
• Fitting and dispensing diabetic shoes and obtaining proper records for reimbursement of
  diabetic shoes.
• Prep and assist of casting for orthotics and maintain log.
• Prepare waivers for non-covered services, explaining the waiver to the patients and have them
  sign and scan into their medical records.
• Instruments cleaned and sterilized via Autoclave.
• Prepare and send specimens for culture and maintain log for Strata Dx
• Draw up and label injectables for physicians to use for procedures.

Requirements and Skills:

• Maintain Autoclave sterilization log.
• Maintain enzyme solution per protocol
• Order and maintain medical supply inventory
• Maintain tool sterility.
• Check eye wash monthly
• Monitor supply closets/exam rooms for expired products
• Test emergency lights in suite monthly.
• Maintain workspace keeping neat and professional.

Certification/Licensure

• Medical assistant position requires training and certification as a medical assistant from an accredited program. Previous work-related skill, knowledge, and experience are required . Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) is helpful.
