GENERAL SUMMARY:
Summary: Ability to safely and properly deliver to patients the dose of ionizing radiation by means of external beam equipment prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist in accordance with all written instructions, photographs or diagrams concerning patient positioning, machine settings, auxiliary devices and special precautions. Expected to assist with quality assurance, dosimetry, simulation, and mold-room activities and responsible for maintaining a smooth, efficient and timely flow of all treatments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Accurately verifies that all charges have been entered correctly into the hospital information system for each patient under treatment. Reviews patient treatment schedule at the end of the day and ensures all charges have been captured for each patient. 2. Accurately applies ionizing radiation to patients following Radiation Oncologists prescriptions, accurately performs daily equipment warm-up and quality assurance checks following all related departmental policies. 3. Accurately reviews patients EMR for diagnosis, prescription and all necessary treatment parameters, accurately verifies patient set-up by taking required initial and weekly portal films; documents actions following departmental policy; has all images reviewed and approved following departmental policy. 4. Follows all Radiation Oncologists prescriptions and notifies Physics for all upcoming conedowns and boost planning for each treatment patient, completes EMR with necessary and complete set-up instructions and digital photos for all treatment patients, accurately delivers every patients daily, monitors each patients treatment chart for weekly verification image status; performs all check images according to schedule and department policy. 5. Accurately verifies documentation in the EMR system for every patient under treatment before delivering each treatment. 6. Maintains the treatment machine schedule for all patient treatments and the nursing schedule for all weekly treatment visits and patients receiving pre-treatment medications. 7. Accurately simulates patients using a CT-Simulator following the Radiation Oncologists prescription. 8. Accurately performs daily equipment warm-up and quality assurance checks following all related departmental policies. Assures that all required billing documentation is present. 9. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
