    Employed by PAGNY for NYC Health Hospitals/Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital. The Rheumatology Service at the Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital is an academic practice sponsored by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and supported by the Montefiore Medical Center Rheumatology Fellows

     

    Our Rheumatology Practice has 1,700 unique active patients between Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital with 52 patients receiving routine biologic infusion therapy. The Practice boasts active Lupus Clinics, Joint Pain Clinics, Ultrasound Evaluation and Treatment Clinics and Arthritis Clinics.

     

    The Jacobi Medical Center Inpatient Rheumatology Service is very active averaging approximately 7 consults per day while North Central Bronx Hospital (NCB) averages 3-5 consults per day. Rheumatology Service at both Jacobi and North Central Bronx is a division of the Department of Medicine and has 4 full time Attending Rheumatologists while the Department of Medicine has approximately 100 full time physicians and 156 medical residents. The Jacobi/NCB Department of Medicine has 15 Divisions with all medical specialties represented and is also affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. 

    Responsibilities

    Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital, affiliated with the prestigious Albert Einstein College of Medicine, seek a dynamic and experienced Division Director of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine to lead a vibrant and diverse clinical and academic program. This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary leader to shape the future of rheumatology care and education in the Bronx, serving a historically underserved community.

    • Provide clinical leadership and strategic direction for the Division of Rheumatology, overseeing inpatient and outpatient services at both Jacobi and North Central Bronx Hospitals.
    • Mentor and supervise a team of dedicated attending rheumatologists, fellows, residents, and medical students.
    • Foster a collaborative and academically enriching environment, promoting research and scholarly activities.
    • Represent the Division on hospital committees and liaise with the Department of Medicine and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical programs and services, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.
    • Participate in teaching rounds, lectures, and other educational activities.
    • Oversee resident and fellow rotations, ensuring a comprehensive and rigorous training experience.
    • Collaborate with the Montefiore Medical Center Rheumatology Fellowship Program to integrate fellows into the clinical and academic environment at Jacobi and North Central Bronx Hospitals.
    • Secure external funding for research and educational initiatives.
    • Maintain an active clinical practice with a focus on complex rheumatic diseases.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications include:

    • Board-certified and fellowship-trained in Rheumatology with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience
    • Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic medical center setting
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
    • Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring future generations of rheumatologists
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals
    • Experience in clinical research and grant writing is desirable
    • Possess or eligible for a New York State Medical License
