Position Overview
Physics Assistants are responsible for assisting the Medical Physics team with routine tasks, including routine patient quality assurance. All work will be completed under the supervision of a Medical Physicist.
Essential Job Functions
• Executes routine quality assurance tests of proton and x-ray beam characteristics
• Tests mechanical characteristics of therapy and imaging equipment
• Collects quality assurance data by utilizing various radiation detectors (such as Matrixx ion chambers, Zebra, MapCheck, etc.)
• Keeps accurate records of data and documentation acquired and presents to Medical Physics team as needed
• Performs other duties as needed to support Medical Physics department
Experience
Required:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program with a focus in physics, physical science, or other engineering field from an accredited university
• Must be motivated with a strong worth ethic, be detail oriented, and have systematic thinking approach
• Strong communication skills – both orally and in writing
• Availability to work outside of normal business hours (nights and weekends)
Hours
• Monday – Friday with shifts starting at 6 PM or later
• Some weekend hours
