Pipefitter assembles, maintains, and repairs various types of pipes and piping systems. Follows blueprints and instructions to assemble and repair piping systems and ensure proper use, placement, and alignment. Being a Pipefitter conducts services in compliance with all safety and quality standards. Evaluates, identifies, and prepares the parts and equipment needed to perform services. Additionally, Pipefitter documents and records service details, dates, specifications, and processes for future reference and maintenance. Maintains knowledge and expertise in various piping applications including HVAC, water and steam heating, high and low pressure systems, and industrial refrigeration. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Pipefitter works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Purpose: Lay out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems and supports,
fixtures and equipment for industrial piping systems on basis of knowledge of system operation and study of
building plans or working drawings. This includes carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, and PVC systems as
well as directing and training pipefitter helpers to perform the same.

SetUp and operate oxyacetylene torch for heating and cutting
Read and interpret isometric drawings
Cut gaskets with gasket cutter
Identify and discriminate cutting and welding gases
Setup and purge stainless steel pipe
Install reinforced concrete pipe
Give crane and heavy equipment hand signals
Read and interpret hanger and support drawings
Identify gaskets materials by size material type and ratings
Perform craft math
Identify hanger components by type kind, size and material composition
Identify and sort valves by size type and materials
Install cast iron push joint pipe
Install ductile iron mechanical joint pipe
Fabricate PVC pipe from isometrics
Use isometrics to fabricate for socket weld pipe, butt weld pipe and threaded pipe
Use threading machine to thread pipe
Identify pipe by size type and wall thickness
Transfer benchmarks and layout elevations
Perform simple rigging operations
Install steam traps
Use power actuated anchor gun/red head
Install fabricated pipe butt weld socket weld and screw pipe from orthographies
Prepare material & pipe-takeoffs for buttweld socket weld & threaded pipe
Use blueprints to erect and fabricate piping systems (Ortho, ISO, P&ID, GA)
Fabricate pipe hanger, supports, anchors, and guides
Install pipe hangers, supports, anchors, and guides
Read and interpret pipe and hanger drawings
Fabricate, weld, and fiberglass piping
Install high pressure and high heat piping systems
Install and set spring hangers/supports
Perform advanced craft math
Work within company policy as outlined in the Samuel EPC Craft Handbook and maintain
compliance with both the Samuel EPC Human Resources Policy Manual and the Samuel EPC
Safety Manual.
Perform other duties as assigned by the foreman/supervisor as needed.
