    What You'll Do
    • Manage and maintain ACO's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
    • Develop and maintain databases across the Analytical Chemistry Organization (ACO), while ensuring high levels of data availability.
    • Evaluate and advise on all technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and applications.
    • Design and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, and queries.
    • Coordinate and work with chemistry staff to develop relational databases as well as identify inefficiencies in current databases and investigate solutions.
    • Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issues.
    • Ensure all computer systems meet business and performance requirements.
    • Produce ad-hoc queries and develop reports to support ACO needs.
    • Identify and understand the requirements of the users with respect to the system that needs to be developed.
    • Provide support to end users after the system has been delivered.
    • Write necessary technical documentation and instructions and provide system training/support to new and existing users.
    • Implement and manage cyber security and software quality requirements.
    • Support software quality assurance and cyber security requirements.
    • Implement new LIMS systems for ACO.

    Minimum Job Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or computer science related discipline. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.
    • In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.     Preferred Job Requirements
    • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical writing skills.
    • Requires a high level of personal motivation and the ability to work within changing situations to meet short deadlines.
    • Experience in a chemistry laboratory and LIMS implementation.
    • Experience in software/database development.
    • Experience with Visual Basic, VB.Net, SQL Server, SAP, SAP HANA, Java, JavaScript, Access, Excel.

    Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

    Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
