The accountant position provides a wide range of support to the accounting department. The position aids in the preparation of financial reports to track grants, assets, liabilities, and other related financial activities of the non-profit organization and the foundation. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Full cycle accounts payable. 
• Monthly, quarterly, and annual contract invoicing. 
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and corrections with proper documentation.  
• Daily bank activity entry and monthly bank reconciliation. 
• Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly to ensure entries and transactions are accurate. 
• Manage government and private grant contract billings, reconciliations, and financial statements. 
• Assist with preparation of the annual budget, and monthly, quarterly, and annual financials in accordance with GAAP.  
• Prepare and update cost allocations of expenses, operations, facility, and other costs.  
• Maintain NetSuite reporting and investigate opportunities to optimize software reporting. 
• Monitor and comply with internal control procedures.  
• Back-up and audit payroll processing biweekly.  
• Respond to audit and program inquiries/monitoring as needed.  
• Back-up for the front desk as needed per schedule. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

Required Skills & Abilities: 

• Grant management. 
• Full cycle accounts payable. 
• Accounts receivable. 
• General ledger reconciliation. 
• Create pivot tables and perform vlookups. 
• Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and accounting software (NetSuite preferred). 
• Monitor and apply internal controls consistently. 
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality. 
• Self-motivated. 
• Interested in process improvement for accuracy and efficiency. 
• Excellent organization and documenting skills. 
• Deadline orientated. 
• Demonstrate respect  toward each person regardless of age, gender, race, nationality, religion, ethnicity, social or economic status, sexual orientation, health condition or disability. 
• Team oriented and able to positively support agency operations. 

Education, Certifications and Experience Requirements: 

• Associate degree or higher in accounting, business administration or a related field; or equivalent work-related experience 
• Experience in not-for-profit accounting preferred 
• Oracle NetSuite experience preferred. 

• Federal grant management experience preferred. 

Physical and Environmental Factors: 

• Ability to lift or carry up to 40 pounds regularly. 
• Indoors, sedentary up to 7 hours/day sitting or standing and up to 4 hours/day keyboarding.
