Accountant
World Mission Ministries (the offices for World Mission and The Society for the Propagation of the Faith) are called to engage the local faith community through global connections, solidarity, and support. This mission is embraced in coordination with other ministerial offices of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, while operating as separate agencies.
The Accountant will be responsible for all financials for both entities (World Mission and SPOF), including accounts payable, receivables, financial reporting, and non-profit filings. The ideal candidate will have a faith-driven appreciation for the value of diversity, a desire to serve the church through promoting global justice, and a teamwork-oriented work style. General knowledge of current Church thought on Mission, Catholic Social Teaching, and practices of the Catholic Faith are a definite plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process non-appeal gifts in donation software and send acknowledgement letters.
- Code and record all payables and disbursements.
- Reconcile and report account balances to the Director.
- Prepare all check requests and process checks for distribution.
- Maintain online banking systems including SinglePoint (US Bank), wire and book transfers.
- Manage mailing and donor lists in Raiser’s Edge and other software.
- Prepare reports and enter adjusting entries for annual financial review.
- Prepare all aspects of annual report, and other quarterly reports
- Manage Financial tracking for Missionary Cooperation Plan
- Provide general administrative support.
- Promote, convey, and represent the global mission.
- Responsibilities are for both corporations, the Office for World Mission and Society for the Propagation of the Faith (SPOF).
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years accounting principles and practice (GAAP) experience required.
- Associate in accounting required bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
- Experience and proficiency using QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) online required.
- Experience working in a dual (two) corporation environment.
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge, RegFox, GivingFuel, Webconnect, Cornerstone, or similar fundraising software is required.
- Clear and transparent communications, both written and verbal are essential.
Non-technical Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic preferred.
- Must possess valid Driver License.
- Passport and willingness to travel internationally preferred.
- Eager to work on a team and with others.
Compensation and Benefits:
This position is full-time and in person at the Mary Mother of the Church Pastoral Center in St. Francis. Occasional weekend and evening work, and some travel within the archdiocese required.
Annual salary of $50,000-$60,000, plus a full offering of benefits, including health, vision, dental, pension plan, paid vacation, and tuition assistance for Archdiocese of Milwaukee Catholic schools.
