Plant Controller establishes and maintains the plant's financial principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Oversees the maintenance of fiscal records and preparation of financial reports. Being a Plant Controller analyzes and interprets cost, budget, policies and profit opportunity trends and presents findings and recommendations to top management. Establishes procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with all relevant government and industry legislation and regulations. Additionally, Plant Controller typically reports to a CFO or top management. Requires CPA. Requires bachelor's degree. The Plant Controller manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.   • GENERAL PURPOSE

    The role of the Controller is critical to the executive team and is responsible for overseeing the fiscal activity at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (The Guadalupe or GCAC.) This position reports to the Executive Director managing all accounting operations and overseeing key operational functions. Essential duties include but are not limited to preparing and analyzing financial reports, reporting those findings to the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders, budgeting, evaluating financial risk, developing financial growth plans for the organization, and supervising human resources and facilities management vendors.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

    We seek a passionate and experienced financial professional to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring our organization's strong financial stability and health. The Controller will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, crafting and implementing policies and procedures with an eye for detail.

    They should also have strong organizational skills, vision, passion, and leadership abilities to maintain and enhance the GCAC's positive reputation in the Westside and national community, exceptional programming, and a history of managing the resources required to achieve our mission and purpose.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Establish and manage a strong system of internal accounting controls, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
    • Coordinate with audit team to file all required federal, state, and local tax returns accurately and on time. This includes Form 990 for federal tax-exempt organizations.
    • Generate accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and non-profit accounting standards.
    • Work closely with Executive Director and staff to develop and monitor annual budgets, prepare financial projections, and analyze variances.
    • Prepare financial projections and budgets for grant applications while collaborating with program teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment with program narratives.
    • Oversee the financial aspects of grant awards, ensuring compliance with donor regulations.
    • Oversee HR functions, being the liaison with the GCAC HR firm with duties to include reviewing timesheets for accuracy, scheduling employee annual reviews, and maintaining HR files.
    • Identify and assess financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Conduct and/or oversee external/internal audits to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
    • Prepare and present financial information to the Board of Directors, funders, and other stakeholders.
    • Implement and maintain accounting software and technology systems.
    • Maintain knowledge of current accounting best practices and non-profit regulations.
    • Oversee financial management of upcoming capital campaign and campus renovation.
    • Supervise the facility manager, develop and manage the facilities budget, oversee construction projects, and ensure compliance with regulations. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a non-profit or public sector accounting role.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
    • Strong experience with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
    • Proficient in accounting software packages like QuickBooks or similar software.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of grant administration processes is preferred.
    • Written and oral fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.

    COMPENSATION

    The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center offers a competitive annual salary in the range of $70,000 to $80,000 based on experience and position qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, and disability insurance and 401k program.
