Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     Overall Purpose

    As a Plant Manager, you will oversee operations including production, scheduling, warehouse management, maintenance, and facility upkeep to ensure timely, accurate, and complete output within budget and resource guidelines.

    Responsibilities

    Operational Leadership:

    • Lead and manage production and scheduling to meet customer expectations and ensure on-time, complete, and error-free shipments.
    • Control operational costs to meet budget targets.
    • Implement Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to continuously improve quality, efficiency, and delivery times.
    • Oversee facility and equipment safety and maintenance, including capital expenditure requests as needed to support production and quality objectives.
    • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative environment that retains top talent.
    • Liaise with customers, customer service teams, and vendors to streamline processes and ensure smooth operations.
    • Manage inventory to ensure the availability of necessary supplies and materials for production.

    Position Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
    • Experience: 7 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including budget management and experience with formalized Quality Management Systems.
    • Certifications: Six Sigma or Lean certifications are a plus, but not required.
    • Skills: Strong operational management skills including budgeting, production scheduling, and process improvement. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, supply chain management, and safety/OSHA regulations. Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
    • Leadership: Ability to lead with a servant leadership mindset, fostering team development and engagement. Proven ability to act as a “Change Agent” with a vision to align teams and drive performance improvements.
    • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
