Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Summary/Objectives:
The Plant Manager directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, quality, research & development, maintenance, and warehouse management.
The Plant Manager develops and implements lean processes that drive continuous improvement, maximize productivity at minimum costs, ensure the highest product quality reinforces safety practices and optimizes employee engagement.
Essential Functions:
· Responsible for all production output, product quality and on-time shipping.
· Coordinate plant activities through the supervision and planning with departmental managers to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
· Implement cost effective systems of control over operating expenditures and manpower.
· Establish and incorporate plant floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
· Implement strategies in alignment with lean strategic initiatives and lean manufacturing practices while providing a clear sense of direction and focus.
· Monitor and develop appropriate safety standards, and maintain and support a superior safety program that will ensure the plant is in compliance with all OSHA regulations.
· Cultivate a solid working relationship with the management team and develop plant staff, providing direction, development and leadership.
· Control and minimize labor overtime and maintenance repair expenses.
· Develop systems and processes that track and enhance productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on investments.
· Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
· Enforce company rules, policies and procedures.
· Communicate well with others, both verbally and in writing.
· May operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other tools needed in the production area as necessary.
· Must perform other duties as needed and requested by GS executive management.

Required Education and/or Experience:
· 5 years proven experience as a plant manager is strongly preferred.
· 10 years as a production manager in a manufacturing environment required.
· Bachelors’ degree in business admin or management, logistics, supply chain or related degree
and/or equivalent education and work experience required.
· Over 5 – 10 years of supervisory experience of over 100 employees in a manufacturing, operations, logistics or supply chain environment.
· Experience in implementing Lean, 6s, 5s, Kaizen events and/or similar processes preferred.
Work Environment:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to noise, some powder in the air, moving mechanical parts and will work in a non-controlled climate environment.
Physical Demands:
· Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
· Have full motion of both arms over head and shoulders.
· Ability to work in a non-controlled climate area.
· Requires ability to walk, sit and stand for the duration of the work shift.
· Ability to use both arms and hands to use tools 10% of the work shift.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
