Plant Inspector inspects finished products for conformance to specifications using fixed or preset measuring instruments. Checks for irregularities and ensures that final products conform with established tolerance levels for quality and performance. Being a Plant Inspector documents all instances of non-conformance and rejected products in production reports. Prepares required inspection certifications. Additionally, Plant Inspector requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Plant Inspector works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     The Broward Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is seeking an Investigative Support Specialist to complement its staff.

    This position performs a variety of specialized office work, providing clerical and administrative support to management and staff of the OIG.

    Illustrative Tasks:
    Receives, directs, and relays telephone and fax messages as well as general correspondence.

    Interacts with the public to obtain goods/services, answer questions, or identify their service needs.

    Prepares correspondence required by management and staff of the OIG.

    Follows-up special assignments, projects, and related matters to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and/or by established deadline.

    Maintains electronic files to facilitate investigative matters management and tracks and facilitates storage and retrieval of information.

    Provides scheduling and administrative support to management and staff of the OIG.

    Supports the Operations Manager in maintaining all electronic files and databases as well as in the day-to-day administrative needs of the OIG.

    Performs related work as required.

    Knowledge and Abilities:
    Knowledge of standard office software applications used for a variety of correspondence, notices, schedules, and related materials to provide clerical and administrative support.

    Knowledge of English spelling and grammar.

    Strong communication skills and extremely self-motivated with ability to prioritize work activities.

    Highly task oriented with the ability to follow organizational procedures and prioritize tasks.

    Training and Experience:
    High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. Associate’s degree in office administration or a related field is desirable. Three (3) years or more of general office support work, preferable in the public sector; or any equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
