Plumber inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains plumbing fixtures and piping in heating, water and drainage systems. Identifies plumbing and safety problems applicable to the installation and takes necessary corrective action using appropriate parts and tools. Being a Plumber complies with all required safety, building code and inspection requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and other instructions. Additionally, Plumber has completed required apprenticeship. Typically requires a high school diploma. Requires Journeyman Plumber status. Requires a State License for plumbing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Plumber works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Plumber Helper Responsibilities:
- Packing and sorting plumbing equipment for each job.
- Locating pipe leaks and preparing the work area.
- Fetching tools
- Cutting open walls and structures to expose pipes.
- Adjusting water pressure valves.
- Assisting the Master Plumber with plumbing installations and repairs.
- Replacing faucet washers and toilet wax rings.
- Measuring, cutting, and threading pipes.
- Installing gutters, drainpipes, and runoff systems.
Plumber Helper Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a Plumber Helper.
- Knowledge of plumbing equipment and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints.
- Advanced mechanical skills.
- Critical thinker with good problem-solving abilities.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Ability to work after-hours and on weekends.
- High-level mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
