JOB SUMMARY:
Northbrook Power Management is recruiting for a full time Hydroelectric Power Plant Operator to join our team to operate and maintain the Gaston Shoals hydroelectric plant. In addition to the operations and maintenance duties, the plant operator conducts activities ensuring safety and environmental compliance. Our O&M teams perform periodic maintenance and annual plant shutdowns involving major maintenance activities under the direction of senior operators and company management.
PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will possess a valid state driver’s license and must consent to and pass a background investigative check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
Candidates must have reliable and fully functional internet, cell phone, and residential phone service as well as reliable, insured transportation, while employed by Northbrook Power Management.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will perform duties including, but not limited to, the following:
SKILLS REQUIRED:
At a minimum, this position requires a willingness to learn hydro operations and basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, with demonstrated maintenance experience in an industrial or commercial setting; proficient use of computer, MS Office software and internet; good written and oral communication skills, problem-solving skills and the ability to interact with regulatory agencies and other public entities. Familiarity with hydraulics, rotating machinery and PLC systems is desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position involves performing physical labor including, but not limited to, walking, hiking, lifting, and climbing in a hydropower facility setting, which includes the outdoor environment of dams and rivers. The successful candidate must be in good general health, capable of lifting a minimum of 50 Lbs., and comfortable working in or around waterways and remote locations. Familiarity and experience working in and around rivers as well as outdoor environments is preferable.
