Home Health Care Aide (CNA/PCA)/Student nurse opportunity to work with a 23-year-old male client in Binghamton, New York.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Provide personal attendant/companionship services to the client at his residence.
Maintain a safe, secure, clean, and orderly environment for the client.
Assist with daily routines such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Plan and prepare tube feedings.
Manage/maintain tracheotomy and provide tracheotomy care/suctioning.
Manage/maintain suprapubic tube and colostomy.
Assist with wound care as directed by providers.
Assist with oral care and suctioning.
Assist with range of motion exercises and exercise routines established by a physical therapist.
Perform light housework when such activities are related to the client's IADLs and ADL.
Attend client appointments, outside/social activities, and errands using the handicap-modified vehicle and the assistance of a second person.
Provide stimulation and entertainment, including conversation, reading, television, scheduling activities, outings, etc.
Provide support, comfort, and companionship.
Complete shift logs during each shift thoroughly and accurately.
Respond quickly to emergencies by notifying appropriate persons and calling 911 as necessary and appropriate.
Administer medications to the client via G-tube as directed by his medical professionals with supervision or notify other staff or family member of the need for medication.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of care and companionship for the client.
EXPECTATIONS
Maintain regular and consistent attendance. If you are unable to work your scheduled shift or need to make changes to your schedule, this must be communicated directly to and approved by the designated person.
Limit personal calls, text messages, social media, etc. to breaks or personal time except in case of a family emergency or if it relates to the client.
Phones should be silent and put away while working, especially with the client and when there are tasks to be completed.
Must exhibit professional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills in all interactions.
Provide proactive support to the client.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate information concerning the health and condition of the client clearly and concisely.
Ability to work with the client in a patient and supportive manner.

Must have BLS certification or similar.
Ventilator, tracheostomy, suprapubic, and colostomy experience are a plus; all new hires will be trained on these skills.

Requirements:
-CPR/BLS certified
-experience as a student nurse, home health aid, CNA, or PCA
-at least 1 years experience as a student nurse, CNA, HCA, or PCA
-experience in a critical care setting such as an ICU, step-down unit, or an emergency room is a plus
