Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy and raw materials. Additionally, Process Engineer requires a bachelor's degree of engineering. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Process Engineer works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. To be a Process Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     About the Position

    • Develops information needs for process evaluations and project scoping. Works with client to collect required information as needed.
    • Creates new or updates to Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Develops material and energy balances
    • Contribute to sizing and specification of process equipment and instrumentation such as control valves, PSVs, etc.
    • Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP) experience desired, with facilitation experience a plus
    • Performs process simulations, hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing.

     

    Skills and Abilities

    • Experience with process engineering software (i.e. Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II, UniSim, ProSim, proprietary programs etc.)
    • Experience in industrial projects including refinery/chemicals/renewable energy
    • Communicate effectively with all levels of the project team.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
    • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S

     

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Minimum of 10 years of Process Engineering experience in a multi-discipline environment in the refining or chemical manufacturing industry.
    • Demonstrated experience in Process Design and Troubleshooting.
    • Knowledge of industry codes and good engineering practices.

     

    Physical Requirements 

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
    • Climbing (stairs/ladders) and field visits are required. 
    • Exposure to outdoors 
    • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).  This includes hardhat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other equipment as required. 
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
