Nature & Scope:   This internship opportunity provides hands on experience with several process and quality engineering methodologies to include value stream mapping, process flow charts, FMEA, and process control planning. This intern will work closely with the department manager to analyze and develop detailed process control plans for our powder coating paint line. With assistance from the process and quality site leaders this intern will derive and document tolerances and measuring procedures to reduce variation and improve our powder coating process capability

Specific Job Responsibilities & Duties: 

• Observe, learn, and analyze our powder coating process to understand critical to quality aspects of the value stream (No prior powder coating knowledge required).
• Use our standard document template to create a detailed process flow chart for the powder coating line.
• Assist in determining what process variables are critical to quality and assist in deriving associated control limits.
• Use our standard document template to create a detailed process control plan for the powder coating line.
• Recommend process improvement ideas to the leadership team.

Qualifications: 

Education

• 3^rd year technical major with core course work in process engineering or quality control related studies
• Proficient with Microsoft office package
• Excellent writing skills
• Math coursework completed through calculus 1
• Physic 1 completion
