About Us:
The city of New Orleans is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to jour our Procurement Services team as a Procurement Specialist . The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for assisting with various aspects of the procurement process, including vendor sourcing, bid evaluation, contract negotiation, and compliance monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and issuance of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and Invitations for Bids (IFBs) for goods and services required by the city government.
- Conduct research to identify potential vendors or suppliers and maintain a database of qualified suppliers.
- Assist in evaluating bids and proposals received from vendors, considering factors such as price, quality, delivery time, and vendor reliability.
- Support contract negotiation efforts, including reviewing and drafting contract terms and conditions under the guidance of senior staff.
- Collaborate with departmental stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and city government policies and procedures throughout the procurement process.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and vendor performance evaluations.
- Assist in resolving any issues or disputes that may arise during the procurement process, including vendor performance or contract compliance concerns.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, finance, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Prior experience in procurement or contract management is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of public procurement laws and regulations is a plus.
