    Detailed Job Description
    Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of accounting transactions, providing accounting support and excellent service within the Controller's Office, completing account reconciliations, processing journal entries, reviewing transactions to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and, responding to customer inquiries regarding accounting processes. Prepare financial reporting and complex financial analysis for Accounting and Financial Reporting in accordance with GAAP.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Prepare the University's monthly primary cash account reconciliations and other general accounts monitored by Accounting and Financial Reporting with timely resolution of differences with departmental representatives University-wide. Coordinate bank reporting with applicable University departments and maintain Oracle cash management systems.
    • Assist Senior Analyst/Gift Reporting with accurately recording gift activity, monthly reconciliations and reporting, including campaign dashboard reporting and reconciliation to the general ledger.
    • Prepare monthly fixed assets account reconciliations, working with Senior Analyst/Fixed Assets to resolve discrepancies and assist with preparation of adjusting entries as required.
    • Assist Senior Analyst/Fixed Assets with: (1) preparing required and ad hoc internal and external financial reporting for property, plant and equipment accounts leveraging system functions for financial reporting, (2) ensuring compliance with new and existing generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) pertaining to fixed asset transactions, and (3) provide support related to the recording of equipment through Accounts Payable through the Oracle Mass Addition tables.
    • Perform monthly quality assurance evaluations over procurement card certified statement reviews and monthly University procurement card transactions.
    • Conduct annual certification of processes administered by the department, administration of the Signatory Authority Delegation policy and support annual balance sheet reconciliation process with oversight of Manager, Accounting Operations.
    • Assist Manager, Accounting Operations with annual preparation of University's employee retirement savings plan audit workpapers and financial statements.
    • Coordinate and participate in the management self-assessment (MSA) reporting and testing for the Accounting and Financial Reporting team.
    • Work with Manager, Accounting Operations to ensure databases are functioning correctly/as designed and maintain comprehensive procedures for all tasks; continuously consider ways to streamline processes and make recommendations for change to management.
    • Complete special projects as assigned by management.
    • Participate in a minimum of 40 hours of training/professional development annually (or a pro rata amount based on standard working hours). Training must be applicable to the employee's role current within the Controller's Division with the intent of enhancing overall knowledge as well as the specific skills, whether functional or technical, required to perform successfully in the position.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education/Experience:
    • BS or MS in accounting
    • Five to six years experience required OR an equivalent combination of education and related experience with financial analysis and/or accounting with knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

    Skills:
    • Strong PC and MS Excel skills and familiarity with Oracle or another enterprise-wide financial application
    • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to interact with both external customers and internal team members with professionalism.
    • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and time management skills
    • Must possess the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment; understand the various risks the organization faces and recommend practical and effective solutions.
    • Must work independently with minimal supervision and exercise professional judgment in carrying out all assigned responsibilities.
