REPORTS TO: General Manager, Restoration & Stewardship
About the Job: The Assistant GM role within growing ranch and land restoration will oversee, facilitate,
and coordinate several complex, interlocking operational functions of land management (grazing,
forestry, weed mitigation, fire mitigation), greenhouse development, conservation, ranch operations,
recreation, and hospitality. The Assistant GM will report to the General Manager, Restoration and
Stewardship, and manage/work closely with other staff, to coordinate construction, ranching,
restoration, and property management work and timelines with the many other initiatives at the ranch.
Supporting these undertakings will require managing and overseeing people and operational processes
within the IT, finances, hands-on labor risk mitigation, and administration.
CORE RESPONSIBLITIES:
Ranch and Restoration Operations
Assist and lead with ranch operations planning and budgeting
Oversee cattle and bison operations, fencing, grazing, watering, and general animal husbandry
Assist and lead land restoration and stewardship initiatives- including riparian corridor
improvements, fish habitat creation, forestry management, rangeland restoration efforts, fire
mitigation, and livestock management
Assist with general ranching and restoration projects
Work collaboratively with team members to create a long-range plan that ensures continued
fiscal health and supports future growth
Lead and assist with contracting efforts related to ranching and restoration efforts
Property and Equipment Repair & Maintenance
Manage building and infrastructure maintenance, repairs, and improvements
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, water, plumbing, and other infrastructure when
possible
Coordinate and assist with management and maintenance of ranch vehicles and equipment;
maintain schedules and procedures for a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance program
Oversee the development and implementation of a road and fence maintenance plan
Coordinate closely with ranch staff when overseeing the maintenance and repair of buildings,
and other infrastructure
Partner Liaison
Develop, establish, and foster ,
project partners, agencies, and community members
Establish and maintain relationships with the grazing allotment owners, Klamath Tribes, lessees,
guests, County, fire department, roads coordinator, and others
Safety
Assist in development fire prevention and burning plans through close coordination with closely
with co-workers, contractors, and authorities
Oversee hazard prevention plan, to include a hazardous fuels treatment plan
Oversee and implement safety program for workers and guests, including maintaining first aid
equipment
Leadership & Team Development
Collaborate closely with leadership and co-workers to develop and implement strategic
objectives while establishing and maintaining sound path of communication
Cultivate a culture that embraces teamwork, seamless communication, accountability, integrity,
and high morale
Provide guidance and instruction to seasonal employees and co-workers
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

study a plus.
xperience in ranching, ranch management, construction,
irrigation and water management, with ability to oversee livestock, land stewardship, and
hospitality operations
Experience developing and managing systems, processes, policies, and procedures to enhance
effectiveness of ranch operations
Experience creating and managing budgets
Technical experience including Excel, Word, GIS tools, and ARC and/or other design software
Basic understanding of construction and ranching safety
Experience with heavy equipment, tractors, trailers, etc.
Consideration will be given to candidates with transferable skills and demonstrating comparable
qualifications and experience and interest in fisheries restoration
Respect for and comfort with working with broad range of co-workers, partners, and agencies
NOTE: Ability to work Seasoned leadership, management expertise, and ability to work collaboratively
are preferable to deep expertise in any ranch function, though past experience managing in a ranch or
similar setting is required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The annual salary for this position is estimated between $80,000 - $90,000 depending on
experience in addition to housing.
