  • George Fox University's George Fox Digital team is seeking a strategic, collaborative, mission-driven
    professional to serve as the Director of Video Production.


    About the Job:

    excellent programs and amazing people in our community. Specifically, our academic content offered through our "George Fox Digital" (GFD) platform requires engaging lectures, storytelling, and other teaching modes through audio and video formats.

    This position is responsible for leading and supervising all phases of educational video and audio production-taking a concept and bringing it to life within the framework of the GFD team. Responsibilities include clear communication with both the GFD video production team and all clients (e.g., GFU faculty and staff) who come into the studio space and on set; management of the studio space and leading all administrative tasks for academic media content for George Fox Digital; planning, scripting, interviewing, lighting, capturing audio, editing, creating motion graphics, producing, and directing; and participation in the leadership and supervisory structure of GFU generally and GFD specifically.


    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Proving leadership, mentoring, development, and structure for the video production and academic content team (for all audio, video, and some learning design and planning elements, particularly in the pre-production phase). This includes regular meetings with the GFD leadership team and VP of George Fox Digital to determine priorities, strategic direction, and vision for the future of GFD.
    • Acting as the lead communicator and organizer for both the GFD video production team and all clients in the studio and on set (e.g., GFU faculty and staff). The person in this position may also be called upon to serve in university-wide capacities, e.g., on working groups or committees, leadership retreats, and other broader initiatives.
    • Leading the GFD video production team to determine video production priorities and work independently to meet all deadlines. This includes the conceptualization, planning, directing, shooting, and editing of video and audio, and providing a high quality, on-brand, finished product.
    • Managing the GFD production studio, ensuring equipment is stored safely and updated as needed, and ensuring the team stays on top of industry trends as well as the latest software and video equipment. This includes oversight of the video production budget, forecasting equipment needs for future purchases, and managing the video production purchase order process.
    • Ensuring copyright law is followed with both audio and visual content. Creating a library of music, sounds, and footage that enhance GFD content. Working with third parties to acquire licenses as necessary, and ensuring the content on the distribution channels (e.g., YouTube, TALKS podcast, etc.) is presented in a professional and accurate manner.
    • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
    • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
    • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    We're looking for candidates who have:

    • A Bachelor's degree in video production or a related experience.
    • Leadership experience of at least approximately two years helping to design sets, arrange video shoots, editing workflow, and arranging teams to complete work on schedule.
    • Demonstrated excellence at communicating with staff on set and video clients; excellence communicating with other leaders, and operating at a high level of collegiality and collaboration with other leaders.
    • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with video editing and animation software (currently, we're using Adobe Creative Suite).
    • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with audio and lighting equipment, as well as best practices for curating, storing, and updating all hardware and software in a studio environment. Includes ability to manage GFD social media and video channels (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
    • An ability to adapt to studio or on-location filming.
    • An ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to occasionally work nights and weekends and manage teams in all scenarios, including for live event filming.
    • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

    Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes:

    • Prior leadership experience with video teams, projects, or initiatives.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and successful work with teaching faculty.
    • Informed awareness of online educational landscape and digital course design.
    • Experience managing video hardware and software needs, as well as social media channels

    Job information:

    • Hours Per Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE)
    • Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
    • Working Conditions: Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment but could include lifting more than 25 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion, and reaching above shoulder level.
