Summary of Job Duties:  The Packaging Technician position is responsible for safely Packaging dietary tablets, capsules, liquids and powders in accordance with product specifications.  This position includes set up, operating, troubleshooting, cleaning, and preventative maintenance of tablet fillers, mixing machines, cappers, Cottners, desiccant machines and liquid and powder filling and packaging equipment.  The process Technician is also responsible for the packaging of tablets, capsules, liquids and powders according to specification.  Accountable for overall packaging line performance, including but not limited to safety, quality, and line efficiency.  The process Technician must be capable of operating multiple machines at one time and learning to operate a verity of equipment within the Packaging area.

Specific Job Duties:

1. Ensure that products meet applicable quality standards.  This includes inspection for quality during the packaging operation and performing all required sampling and testing.  Must be able to make necessary machine adjustments to ensure a smooth and compliant operation.
2. Meet all safety expectations including wearing the required personnel protective equipment (PPE) and following all safe practices.
3. Collect and analyze data using skills in applied math.
4. Utilize problem solving skills to investigate and troubleshoot product issues and recommend solutions.
5. Execute the recommended solutions, complete appropriate documentation, and communicate changes.
   1. Perform calculations and physical updates to improve equipment and process performance.
6. Perform basic and routine maintenance activities as required.
7. Able to work outside normal scheduled hours and OT.
8. Use basic hand and power tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, drills, etc.
9. Work in a team environment assisting Packaging Operators as needed.
10. Cross-train throughout the facility in all aspects of Packaging.
11. Ensuring documentation is properly and accurately completed, signed and in compliance with Company Standard and Regulatory Requirements.
12. When out of compliance or standards are not met, assist the Supervisor in completing a Deviation Report detailing both short and long-term Corrective Actions. 
13. Ensure full compliance with Companies Policies, Procedures, GMP’s, Code of Safe Practices and SOP’s at all times. 
14. Disassemble, clean, sanitize and reassemble all required equipment.
15. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. 3 years' experience in a packaging or manufacturing environment.
2. Self-motivated and ability to take initiative and use sound judgment in day-to-day decision making.
3. Mechanically inclined to understand inner workings of equipment.
4. Basic math skills.
5. Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs.
6. Ability to read and write legibly in English.
7. Excellent English communication skills required, bilingual speaker a plus.
8. Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules.
9. Willing to work occasional off shifts and weekends.
    

Skills and/or Training Desired:

1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
3. Good understanding of Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
4. Knowledge of Chemical Safety, Pest Control and Quality Systems a plus.
5. Data collection, analysis, trouble shooting, and problem solving using defined methodologies.
6. Mechanical aptitude.
7. Capable of working with minimal supervision.
8. Strong decision-making skills.
9. Good time management and organizational skills.
10. Ensure collaborative relationships inside and outside the department.
11. Communicate effectively verbally and in written documents.
