Production Scheduler Manager manages the development, preparation, and maintenance of production schedules to guide the production activities and resources that achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives. Collaborates with internal teams to assess and incorporate materials, inventories, resource availability, and delivery commitments into schedules. Being a Production Scheduler Manager monitors production progress and develops revised scheduling responsive to changes in the flow of materials, designs, equipment, or other resources. Utilizes ERP systems, planning and scheduling software, or other database tools to develop and maintain master schedules. Additionally, Production Scheduler Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Production Scheduler Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Production Scheduler Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Scheduler II position will schedule production to meet the needs of the supply plan and customer orders, delivering the agreed level of customer service within cost, efficiency and inventory targets. They will also help to minimize the impact of allergens and other sequencing constraints to maximize factory efficiencies. The Scheudler II tracks progress against schedule, make changes as necessary to accommodate, services priorities and constraints, communicates progress to key internal / external contacts and stakeholders and maintains set up matrix to enable optimized schedule. The Scheduler II also alerts management to prevent excess production and react to customer needs, manages the replenishment process into the factory and to and from production lines, and manages factory standards for materials. The role impacts the fill rates for our customers, as well as the plant production efficiency, and inventory levels for finished product.  The decisions made here are crucial to the overall delivery of key divisional KPI’s.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Using APO and other tools, schedule production weekly, daily and hourly for the relevant production lines, to meet the needs of the master production plan and customer orders, within inventory, allergens and efficiency constraints.
    • Monitor progress against the schedule through frequent contact with production, making adjustments as necessary, according to priorities and constraints.  Maintain close contact with Customer Services advising them of the situation and amend schedule as priorities change.
    • Schedule production trials, new product introductions and product discontinuations in the most effective way, with minimal write off exposure.
    • In conjunction with supply planning, maintain the parameters within scheduling tools (eg working calendar, CHARMAT etc) for the appropriate lines and products to manage the constraints of seasonality, holidays, business change etc.
    • Communicate issues preventing items from achieving customer service targets to supply planning for inclusion in the escalation process.
    • Assist other schedulers in the preparation of production schedules for their areas, including work in progress scheduling, to avoid incurring unnecessary costs elsewhere within the supply chain.
    • Attend business reviews and participate in “cell” and project team activity as required, to meet the needs of the business.
    • Involvement in TPM processes and projects
    • Comply with all the rules concerning Health and Safety, to ensure that all equipment is operated safely and to report any accident, injury or unsafe practice in accordance with procedures.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • 5 years of relevant experience in supply chain or Bachelors Degree with 1 years of experience
    • 3 years of experience with scheduling, procurement, or replenishment  
    • Competent PC Skills - past exposure to planning using MRP and other systems, SAP/SCM preferred
    • Assertive and tenacious, results focused
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure
    • Ability to think ‘outside the box’
    • Customer focused and committed to building effective internal and external working relationships
    • Innovative, flexible and adaptable
    • Good organizational and planning skills
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work well as part of a cross functional team
    • Competent written and oral communication skills, including ability to give effective presentations
    • APICS certification highly preferred.
