  • We are seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee production planning in our USDA-inspected facility. This is a new position for a growing, privately-owned food manufacturer in north Lincoln. The right person for this job will need to: meet production, safety and quality requirements; train and direct team in day-to-day operations; supervise employees to ensure production guidelines are being met; oversee the routine maintenance and set up of equipment; and communicate production goals, objectives, and results to motivate employees toward maintaining a high standard of product quality while maximizing plant efficiencies.     Core Responsibilities:
    • Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including the following: planning, delegating, and directing work; assessing performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assisting in providing appropriate solutions
    • Ensure production is completed in accordance with HACCP and USDA regulations, taking corrective action when necessary, watching for safety issues, making corrective actions where necessary
    • Provide leadership and guidance to employees
    • Communicate expected safety or ergonomic activities for the department and help to develop and meet safety goals
    • Oversee maintenance of desired product quality and safety and ensure employees know and understand the plant’s food safety and quality plans
    • Learn and carry out product specification requirements
    • Maintain adequate knowledge of products and equipment to ensure the ability to direct employees to perform the job properly
    • Perform daily walkthroughs of the production department
    • Work with the General Manager and/or leads to maintain knowledge of yields and variances, methods of calculations, typical problem areas, and methods for corrections and improvement.
    • Recommend changes in work flow and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the department to minimize downtime and product costs
    Qualifications:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
    • Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2 years of related experience and/or training in a production environment.
    • Preferred: Previous food processing experience, supervisory experience, manufacturing knowledge, understanding plant efficiencies, and operations procedures.
    • Bilingual a plus
    • Able to lead problem solving and troubleshooting
    • Ability to train and lead employees to encourage optimum performance and engagement
    • Good planning and priority-setting skills
    • Ability to work well with others in fast-paced environment
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented and foster a positive working environment
    • Ability to work in a cold production environment
    • Could be required to work long hours and weekends
    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
    The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
    • Wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, and working with cleaning/sanitizing chemicals.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area – hearing protection is provided
    • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Frequently required to stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
