    Position Overview

    The Director of Placement Services is responsible for employer outreach and development of employment and internship opportunities through initiating and developing relationships with employers in business, government, and non-profit organizations. The Director provides guidance for current students seeking assistance with career opportunities after graduation in partnership with other alumni and career services personnel. 

    Essential Responsibilities

    These are the key responsibilities the employee is responsible for on a day-to-day basis.  

    Employer Outreach: 50% 

    • Identifies new employers through research and discussions with academic, industry, and professional contacts. 
    • Initiates contact with employers to cultivate new employer relationships that lead to the placement of graduates in employment and internship opportunities.
    • Maintains relationships with employers related to career interests of students. 
    • Plans and implements career fairs, networking events, and other programs such as annual Employer Summit.
    • Arranges and participates in site visits and on-campus meetings and events as applicable.

    Academic and Credential Outreach: 15%

    • Serves as a resource for academic teams to provide career data, trends, and credentialing data leading to employment and internship placement opportunities. 
    • Meets with Program Deans, faculty, academic and admissions advisors, and staff to identify career development and employment needs of students.
    • Distributes information on Center services, resources, and employment events in coordination with other alumni and career services personnel.Presents workshops and classes to support student and graduate employment and internship placement.

    Employment Counseling: 35%

    • Counsels students regarding career decision-making, experiential learning opportunities, and preparing for employment.
    • Assists students and graduate with full-time professional job search strategies and techniques
    • Provides direct student support through individual and group coaching sessions.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business, communication or related area; Masters preferred.
    • At least three (3) years experience in a career services or related field required, with a proven track record of developing employer relations leading to employment and internship placement.
    • High level of technical proficiency, including MS Office Suite, Google Docs, and using a database to manage contacts (CRM and SIS).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to develop and deliver presentations.

    This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; position requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching. 

    Work Environment

    This job can be completed remotely or in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

    Schedule 

    Monday to Friday, 8:30-5:30 PST or a similar schedule. Availability outside of standard work hours may be necessary at times.
