Posi�on Summary: Under the lead work direction of the Department Chair, the Academic Department Coordinator acts
as the primary contact and support person for the department under their purview. Requires coordination of entire clerical
and administrative support functions and/or performance of secretarial and administrative work in a complex academic
office. A broad range of operational and procedural office and administrative problems which may at times require
research, analysis, and evaluation of information may need to be solved. Ingenuity in developing solutions is required.
These positions are fast paced and require independent interpretation and application of the code of rules, regulations,
procedures, precedent cases, and policies related to the full range of professional work found in the department office.
The Coordinator works closely with students, faculty and staff across the university to ensure the effective operation and
administrative function of the department. In addition to office support, the coordinator provides course scheduling,
curricular and registration support, personnel support, and the monitoring of budget and fiscal activity for correctness.
