Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Instructor or Assistant Professor of Business & Entrepreneurship; SIF Coordinator

  • The College is seeking an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Business & Entrepreneurship for a 9-month position. The job holder will teach entrepreneurship classes, conduct entrepreneurship research related to his or expertise, and engage in relevant service to the college and community. The course load will be a base of four courses per semester with course release for other relevant duties. ULM’s College of Business and Social Sciences’ business programs are AACSB accredited.

    The person will also act as the Student Innovation Fund (SIF) Coordinator for our Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup student business plan competition, supporting new business growth from the competition. The Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup is the premier student business plan competition in the state of Louisiana, with a prize of $50,000 for the winning team and over $90,000 in prizes. The competition is open to all degree seeking college students in the state of Louisiana.
        
    The newly created Student Innovation Fund offers Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup finalists the opportunity to apply for additional funding to take the next step and pursue their business idea. The fund will award a total of $200,000 per year over the next five years. The SIF coordinator will help to develop the SIF process, organize the evaluation and awarding process, and play an advisory role for entrepreneurial ventures. The job holder will also act as a champion for entrepreneurship in our college, university, and region. The job holder will play an important role in preparing students for the Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup. 

    Candidates should possess relevant entrepreneurship experience and expertise. Some experience in online teaching is beneficial.  Effective teaching skill must be demonstrated and is expected in both online and face-to-face classes.   
    • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses during the fall and spring semesters.
    • Mentor undergraduate students and Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup teams.
    • Pursue a program of scholarly research and publication.
    • Create and manage Student Innovation Fund process. 
    • Actively participate in student recruitment for the program and Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup.
    • Contribute to the mission of the program and college.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

    Candidates should have a relevant master’s degree or higher from a regional accredited university. MBA preferred. 

    Candidates should possess relevant entrepreneurship experience and expertise. Experience with business plan competitions and entrepreneurial funding is preferred.

The individual is expected to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, peers, administrators, and the public and be willing to serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
