Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienist to provide exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental assisting, possess excellent communication skills, and be knowledgeable in medical terminology and documentation.
Duties:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including preparing the treatment area, sterilizing instruments, and handing instruments to the dentist as needed.
- Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist.
- Prepare and maintain dental equipment and supplies.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
- Perform basic dental laboratory procedures, such as pouring impressions and fabricating temporary crowns.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record systems, such as Epic.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and maintaining a clean and organized dental office environment.
- Take and record vital signs of patients as necessary.
Skills:
- Proficient in taking dental x-rays and operating dental imaging equipment.
- Knowledgeable in medical terminology related to dentistry.
- Familiarity with medical documentation practices, including charting patient information accurately.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Experience in dental assisting procedures, such as chairside assisting, instrument sterilization, and tray setup.
- Ability to perform basic dental laboratory procedures, such as pouring impressions.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, preferably Easglesoft.
- Knowledge of medical coding for dental procedures is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
