Professor - Economics teaches courses in the discipline area of economics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Economics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Economics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Northwestern College invites applications for a full-time faculty position (open rank, open field) in our business and economics department to begin August 2024. We invite candidates in any field to apply—accounting, business analytics, finance, economics, management, marketing, project management, or other business-economics-related fields. The teaching load for these positions is 24 credit hours per academic year, normally three courses each semester, along with expectations for scholarship and service.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a master’s degree or above in the area of expertise and demonstrate effective teaching.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in the field of expertise. Hiring preferences will be shown to those with experience in higher education and years of relevant experience in the discipline. A commitment to in-person, undergraduate teaching and mentoring is a must.
