Professor - Education teaches courses in the discipline area of education. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Education typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Education Coach- Severe Needs

  • This is an independent contractor position. We match you with district students in need of compensatory services, and you provide the coaching and tutoring directly to the student. Individual student assignments can last from a few months up to a full school year. Many students currently requiring ESY services. Some students receive multiple hours of service per week. You would coordinate with mental health professionals, paras, and others on each student's support team.

    Responsibilities

    You will be responsible for:

    • planning and delivering targeted, personalized lessons to struggling learners with severe needs in a one-on-one environment, either in a district building or the child's home.
    • follow-up notes to the team to be completed each week
    • communication directly with teachers, therapists, and other Hopkins and school staff regarding your work with a student (usually by email)
    • modeling a growth mindset for students and other professionals, taking a solutions-focused approach to challenges as they arise

    Required Work Experience, Skills, and Education:

    *Minimum 5 years of classroom teaching or similar student-centered experience in school setting, must have experience working with students with severe needs.

    *Master's Degree in education-related field

    *Current Special Education Teaching License, familiarity with IEPs

    *Familiarity with/ commitment to mindfulness and SEL education; willingness to attend PD

    *Experience with building positive relationships with students to guide them toward success

    *Strong written and verbal communication

    *Dedication to professionalism and a strong work ethic --this is KEY- you must be committed to excellence

    *Willingness to collaborate with the student support team

    *Patience, empathy, and compassion for students who come from unsafe or unstable environments
