Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Job goal:

    To structure the learning environment for creatives to study the Arts-Integrated English program as outlined by the Westwind Curriculum Guidelines.

    Essential duties & responsibilities:

    The following statements of responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.

    • Cultivates a classroom culture that provides rigorous arts-integrated instruction in the content area.
    • Plans a program of study that meets the students' individual needs, interests, and abilities.
    • Participates in Professional Learning Communities with administrators and teachers to collaborate and work together to grow personally and professionally.
    • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
    • Prepares weekly lesson plans for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
    • Sets and maintains high standards of classroom behavior.
    • Assesses students' accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
    • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct.
    • Strives to improve professional competencies through State required professional development and content area-specific training.
    • Attends staff meetings as required.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
    • Teaching Certification or ALP preferred
    • Teaching experience preferred.
    • Evidence of ability to work with diverse student populations.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Evidence of strong organizational skills.
    • Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
