Description of Duties:
The position reports to the Durham Chair of Mathematics and is responsible for providing instruction for a selection of courses from pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, data science, and courses beyond calculus with emphasis on mathematical modeling, student centered instruction, and use of instructional technology.
General duties include: develop and communicate to students clear course objectives and goals; plan and develop an instructional program that helps students assimilate specific course content and skills; hold tutorial sessions as outlined by the department; regularly monitor and evaluate students’ progress, providing them with resources and feedback on their performance; structure and manage an environment conducive to learning; model for students responsibility to self and others; follow the School’s philosophy, policies, and procedures; attend departmental, faculty, and staff meetings; effectively collaborate with colleagues; participate in professional development and personal intellectual growth activities.
Participate in one or more of the following activities: provide information, service, and expertise to other schools and organizations (professional outreach); assist students on special projects, independent or individual study, and seminar-based studies; provide assistance for school-sponsored programs and extracurricular activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in the use of educational technology; commitment to curriculum design; and willingness to participate in residential school programs including social, recreational, and advisory responsibilities at times other than usual school hours.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in a related subject field. Experience teaching advanced students.
Preferred: experience teaching courses in Precalculus, Statistics, Calculus, Data Science, or other advanced mathematics coursework.
