Professor - Mechanical Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of mechanical engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Mechanical Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Mechanical Engineering typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Anderson University is accepting candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant or Associate Professor level for Fall 2024.
Anderson University is home to ABET accredited engineering programs including: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. The university also has programs in Civil Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Humanitarian Engineering.
Primary duties for the position include teaching undergraduate engineering courses using current tools of the industry, connecting students with industry professionals, mentoring students, generating scholarship, service to the community, and participating in departmental and university committees.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Masters degree paired with a PE and sufficient experience will be considered. Candidates in all areas of Mechanical Engineering will be considered. Experience with electromechanical or mechatronic systems is strongly preferred, but not required. Rank and tenure status will be determined based on the credentials of the selected candidate.
Candidates should have belief in and commitment to Jesus Christ and the Christian faith as interpreted through the historic witness of the Bible and the contemporary ministry of the Holy Spirit. They should possess a vitality of Christian experience that is maturing in insight and application.
Benefits: For the full-time position it is a 9-month position paid over 12 months. Tenure-track position with eligibility for university benefits, and the possibility for summer employment. Opportunities for professional development funds and conference travel support are available.
