Professor - Physics teaches courses in the discipline area of physics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Physics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Physics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Teach course(s) in Engineering and/or Physics in keeping with candidate’s specialization and departmental need

    Responsibilities

    • Teach (and possibly design) Engineering/Physics course(s) and/or labs on an assigned topic, with support from the department
    • For courses, draw up a syllabus and maintain a course Moodle page
    • For labs associated with courses taught by other faculty, manuals, equipment, and supplies will be provided by the department
    • Teach the course or lab in person, grade assignments and tests, and support students as needed to promote their learning
    • Contribute to an academic environment that actively seeks to increase inclusive excellence in the department and in the discipline

    Skills

    • Ability and interest in teaching undergraduate students in a face-to-face environment
    • Ability to explain complex concepts in Engineering or Physics

    Experience

    College teaching experience preferred

    Education

    Master’s degree in Engineering or Physics required; PhD preferred
