Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     As an Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology at Bennett College, you will have the opportunity to work with a varied student population and contribute to our mission of educating and preparing women of color to become leaders in their communities. This is a full-time (9-month) non-tenure track faculty position starting no later than August 2023, with the opportunity to move into a tenure-track position.  

    The ideal candidate will teach general psychology and courses in at least two of these areas: developmental psychology, community or I/O psychology, clinical or counseling psychology, physiological psychology/neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and/or research methods/statistics.  

    Courses are taught in minimesters with three minimester per traditional semester. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.  

     
    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Teach undergraduate courses in psychology and related fields face-to-face, remote, and hybrid for majors and non-majors.  
    • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to engage and inspire students. 
    • Use Canvas for course delivery and record-keeping; submit grades and attendance reports in a timely manner.  
    • Advise and mentor psychology majors and minors with a focus on preparing them for career entry, internships, and/or graduate school.  
    • Contribute to the development and assessment of the psychology curriculum. 
    • Participate in departmental and college-wide service activities in shared governance and general administrative work of the College.  
    • Participate in recruitment, professional development, workshops, and other programming as assigned by the Dean of Faculty or VP of Academic Affairs.  
    • Develop a research program and contribute to the published literature in the field. 
    • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publication, and conference presentations. 
    • Actively pursue outside funding.  

     REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 
    • Master's degree in psychology or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in psychology as of August 1, 2023.  
    • A record of effective college teaching.  
    • Demonstrated expertise in a specialized area of psychology 
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills 
    • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion 

     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • A terminal degree/doctorate in psychology or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in psychology as of August 1, 2023.  
    • Demonstrated record of research and scholarship with the discipline.
    • Peer-reviewed publications and an active program of research.
