Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Overview
    Mount Marty University is pleased to accept applications for the position of Assistant Professor
    of Mathematics. This is a full time, nine-month, tenure track appointment - beginning in the fall
    of 2024. As there is no mathematics major, this position, which is housed in the Division of
    Natural Sciences, mainly serves the math education program (secondary education), as well as
    the university’s general education program, and sciences programming. Course load for this
    position would range from courses concerned with elementary applications in mathematics,
    college algebra, calculus, discrete, linear algebra, numerical analysis and a few others.
     
    About the Position 
    The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in mathematics or mathematics education (18 credit hours
    in graduate level mathematics is required) at the time of appointment. The ideal candidate will
    also have teaching experience at the secondary and/or post-secondary level. A commitment to
    undergraduate teaching and a willingness to support the mission of Mount Marty University and
    a zeal for working in a mission driven environment is required. We strongly encourage those

    in a private, religiously affiliated institution in our current era, as well as an understanding of the
    dynamism required to help such an institution thrive. We are looking for bold, passionate, and

    Mount Marty will also consider applications from those who are master’s prepared (mathematics
    or math education with 18 credits in mathematics courses) and who express a willingness to
    earn a doctoral degree in mathematics or math education by the time of tenure and promotion.
    Candidates who are capable of teaching introductory and advanced graduate level statistics are
    also encouraged to apply.
